Alps & Tyrol 2026: Jaufen Pass, Brenner Pass & Timmelsjoch – Day 6
Day 6 – 228km
Still dry!
After another good night's sleep, we were greeted with dry roads and decent weather, so there was only one thing to do — get back on the bikes and make the most of another day in the Alps and Tyrol.
Today would take us over some fantastic Alpine roads, across the Brenner Pass, through Innsbruck and eventually up to the Timmelsjoch, with a visit to one of Europe's most unusual motorcycle museums along the way.
Back Up the Jaufen Pass
We started the day by heading back up the Jaufen Pass, enjoying the bends and mountain scenery we'd ridden into yesterday.
From there, we dropped into town for a quick stop at a pharmacy for one of the guys before getting back on the road.
The weather was still behaving itself, so we continued towards the Brenner Pass.
The Scenic Route to Brenner
Rather than taking the obvious fast route, we deliberately avoided motorways, tunnels and even A roads.
Instead, we picked our way through village after village.
This is one of the things that makes guided motorcycle touring in the Alps so enjoyable. Sometimes the best roads aren't the ones that get you somewhere fastest. Taking the slower route means more scenery, more bends and plenty of those little Alpine villages that you would otherwise simply blast past.
We eventually crossed back into Austria, stopping for coffee at Steinach am Brenner.
Winding Into Innsbruck
From Steinach, we took a winding route towards Innsbruck.
The scenery was once again fantastic, with the mountains providing a constant backdrop as we worked our way through the valleys.
But we weren't heading straight into the city.
Our route was taking us towards one of the great highlights of the day — the Timmelsjoch.
The TOP Motorcycle Museum
Before tackling the pass, we stopped at the TOP Motorcycle Museum.
This is a pretty special place for anyone interested in motorcycles. The museum was tragically destroyed by fire in 2021, but has since been rebuilt and now houses hundreds of motorcycles, many of which have been donated.
For a group of motorcycle riders, it's an easy place to lose a bit of time!
There's something particularly enjoyable about seeing such a wide variety of bikes together, especially when you're already spending the week travelling through some of Europe's best motorcycle territory.
Climbing the Timmelsjoch
Then it was time to climb.
The Timmelsjoch Pass rises to 2,509 metres, making it another spectacular high-Alpine road and one of the highlights of our Alps and Tyrol motorcycle tour.
Everything was going brilliantly as we climbed higher.

All was going smoothly, until we got stuck behind a flatbed that had managed to get itself stuck on a hairpin!
What followed was highly entertaining.
The crew had to unload a tarmac remover machine, somehow negotiate the awkward corner, and then reload the machine again.
It wasn't exactly the smoothest way to tackle a mountain hairpin, but it provided plenty of amusement for those of us waiting behind.
Eventually, they managed the corner and moved on — leaving the road clear for us.
And, of course, we weren't going to waste the opportunity!
Back to the Hotel
With the Timmelsjoch behind us, we made our way back towards the hotel after another excellent day in the mountains.
Only 228km today, but with plenty of Alpine roads, mountain passes, villages and scenery packed into the route, it was another cracking day's riding.
And after all those kilometres, bends and elevation changes, there was only one thing left to do.
Head back to the hotel for a well-deserved drink!
The bikes are parked, the riders are relaxing, and another day of the Alps and Tyrol 2026 motorcycle adventure is in the bag.
